Education Destination - Public Website

HTML    CSS    PHP    SQL    Graphic Design    Photography    Videography    Content Generation    SEO    SSL    Optimisation    Social Media    Compliance    Hosting & Management

Brief

Take 700+ curriculum-relevant learning resources written by qualified teachers and use these to persuade schools to make residential visits to the Isle of Wight in order to grow tourism shoulder seasons.

Approach

Codify the materials and build a comprehensive database structured by visitor attraction, subject, topic, age group, ability level and other searchable facets. Develop a "long tail" SEO strategy to encourage indexing of the educational content and present this to teachers searching for tips on how to deliver a particular topic, presenting a visit to the Isle of Wight as the answer to their question.

Develop a number of supporting pages to directly sell accommodation and transport services, along with safeguarding materials, policy documents and forms.

Metrics

From zero to almost 50 trips per annum for an average of 62 students staying an average of 3.5 nights in just 4 years (2019 figures) and growing rapidly. Alongside other marketing efforts such as direct mail, email shots and telesales, the website and linked social media accounts are responsible for well over 80% of new enquiries.

Brief

Provide a comprehensive Customer Relationship Management platform to handle the selling and execution of bespoke residential trips for large groups of young people, from enquiry management through the sales funnel right the way through to delivery and follow-up marketing activities.

Approach

Build a lead tracking CRM specifically designed for this niche market and its particular quirks. Develop a quote generation tool that allows the creation of entirely bespoke packages taking into account highly variable incentives offered by suppliers. Design and implement back-office workflows to ensure proper planning and delivery of excursions with extremely complex and numerous considerations, especially around the over-arching subject of safeguarding.

Metrics

Given a small number of key pieces of information, Education Destination staff can now turn around even the most complex quotes within a matter of minutes. A typical proposal will include a choice of accommodation providers for a given date range, road transport costs and journey time estimates, suitable ferry crossings for the type of vehicle, date and time of travel, and a programme of typically 12-15 daily and evening activities from a selection of well over 100 all relevant for the client's stated educational or experiential objectives.

All contact with schools is tracked throughout, from lead capture to programme delivery, allowing staff to instantly deal with issues arising, resulting in an extremely high (90%+) rebooking rate.

needadisco - Public Websites

HTML    CSS    PHP    SQL    Graphic Design    Content Generation    SEO    SSL    Security    Backups    Optimisation    Compliance    Hosting & Management

Brief

Build a series of websites to funnel enquiries for mobile discos and commonly-associated products (dancefloors, photo booths, giant letters, karaoke etc.) to service providers that pay a subscription to receive leads.

Approach

The SEO strategy for this website is confidential, however it does rely on creating and regularly maintaining a "long tail" of pages to steer web surfers looking for entertainment for parties and special events towards the website and ultimately the enquiry process being the start of the sales funnel.

A whole host of related websites targeting niche markets exists to support the primary website.

Metrics

In 2018 confirmed secured bookings made as a direct result of enquiries raised via the website exceeded £2m and our estimates based on anecdotal evidence and surveys suggests that indirect bookings (for example where a visitor finds a service advertised on the website but contacts the provider directly instead) could be 2 or 3 times this level.

Brief

Advertisers (subscribers) of needadisco.com need to manage their profiles, advertising preferences (area, budget, specialisms etc.), seek help and advice and set up integration with common third party tools used in the management of their business.

Information pertaining to leads and bookings must be particularly accessible on mobile devices due to the nature of the work undertaken.

Approach

Consolidate all of the possible management activities into a single interface with strong security protection and a common look and feel throughout in order to improve customer satisfaction and reduce the amount of administration..

Metrics

Prior to the introduction of Member Dashboard, support was provided by email which was a very unsatisfactory experience for many, with lost messages and reduced security. Many enquiries were of the "how-to" variety due to a complex mix of technologies in use at the time. A Facebook group set up to deal with FAQs was soaking up several hours per day of administration time.

Following its introduction, Member Dashboard brought amongst other things an online help and support service. This quickly saw a vast reduction in "how-to" enquiries and allowed the Facebook group to be archived, and once mined for useful FAQ content, removed, saving 0.5FTE. Member satisfaction and retention have both improved and new features can be easily trialled before being added to the portfolio.

Betapak

HTML    CSS    PHP    Content Generation    SEO    SSL    Optimisation    Hosting & Management

Brief

Create a new mobile-friendly responsive website based on an older, familiar design with existing colour scheme and logo. Provide lots of elements for external sites and social media posts to link to, but guide the visitor to pick up the phone as this is Betapak's preferred way of dealing with customers in order to establish rapport and become a one-stop-shop for their business supplies.

Approach

Create a responsive framework using the Bootstrap component library and utilising Betapak's existing distinct colour scheme, fonts and logo. Page by page modernise and refresh the existing website content without alienating regular users. Incorporate lots of potential linking points to help with off-site promotion.

Metrics

A big reduction was recorded in Bounce Rate (people landing on the website and immediately clicking off without browsing further), especially amongst mobile phone and tablet users. Google no longer penalises the website in its ranking algorithm for not being 'mobile friendly'.

Sandown Carnival

HTML    CSS    Photography    Videography    Content Generation    SSL    Optimisation    Hosting & Management

Brief

Create a single point for information publishing about the series of events delivered each year by a community group Sandown Carnival. This is to be the definitive source of data pertaining to future events and provide access to historical imagery and content relating to events.

Approach

Carnivals are very colourful and jolly, so the general website look and feel was chosen from a pre-built template to match. A template was chosen to keep design costs to a minimum as this is a volunteer organisation, however a degree of work was required to make the template fit for purpose.

Metrics

Unlike the previous website, the new site is fully responsive, making it mobile friendly and easy to disseminate information 'on the day' during events to communicate changes - for example weather related cancellations - without resorting to word-of-mouth and public comments on social media which were often inaccurate and misleading to others. The site features direct access to the official carnival Facebook and Twitter feeds, allowing only authorised staff to make announcements and avoid misinformation.

The website now allows access to many thousands of photos and videos stretching back to 1932, content which was previously unavailable to the public.

Special Olympics Isle of Wight

HTML    CSS    Photography    Content Generation    SSL    Hosting & Management

Brief

Create a simple to navigate online noticeboard for Special Olympics athletes to access details of upcoming events, celebrate past successes and read newsletters to cut down on printing and circulation costs.

Mobile friendliness and ease of navigation are essential for the target audience.

Approach

A single-page clean template was produced based on Twitter Boostrap with just 6 key sections with one-word titles. Embedded Flickr photo gallery and Google Calendar means that the majority of site updates can be conducted by non-technical volunteer staff with the correct account credentials.

Metrics

The new website was well-received by athletes who love looking at pictures of the events they've taken part in. Previously with limited resources newsletters were limited to 1 or 2 per year, but now they can be published more frequently. Authorised volunteer staff can update photo galleries and events calendars without editing the website.
